What exactly is the 'Billion Dollar World'?
. The Billion Dollar World offers you the chance to 'own a piece of the world'. Within the Billion Dollar World every country on our planet is 'mapped out' and divided into 100 pixel blocks. Pixels can be purchased within any country you want and in whatever location you desire, as long as they are available. When you purchase some pixels you are entitled to display an image of your own, in the space you have selected. This image will then go live onto the Billion Dollar World site and contain a link to your own web site, so when anyone clicks on your image they will be directed straight to your site. The pixels are $1 (US) each and are available in 100-pixel 'blocks' (each measuring 10x10 pixels). Therefore the minimum purchase is 100 pixels, which is $100. Everyone is welcome to buy pixels in the Billion Dollar World.
How do i select the pixel space I want?
. First of all decide which country and the precise area you want to purchase your pixel space in. To make things easier for you, each country has a grid and a map, both of which can be toggled on/off. Each grid is made up of 100 pixel blocks, so you can determine exactly how much space you want to purchase and a map is there to help you find the precise location for your pixels. When you hover your cursor over your desired location some co-ordinates will be displayed. The co-ordinates consist of four different values for a single 100 pixel block (e.g. 400,370,410,380) and can be seen when you hover your mouse over any 100 pixel block that is available to purchase. When you are sure of the exact space you want, make a note of the country and co-ordinates of the block/s you want. You can purchase as many 100 pixel blocks as you like, in as many different countries as you like, provided the space is available. If you do purchase several 100 pixel blocks, please be sure to note down ALL of the co-ordinates for EACH 100 pixel block so we can reserve the exact space you want. Why can I only buy a minimum of 100 pixels?
. The reason for selling them in 100 pixel 'blocks' is because if we sold anything smaller the actual image displayed would be too small to be seen clearly by the naked eye.
What happens when I buy some pixels?
. After you have purchased some pixels you are entitled to display an image, which can be anything you like as long as it is not obscene or offensive. However, it must be the correct size and either a Jpeg or Gif file which you then email to us along with the other information including the country and co-ordinates of your requested pixel space as well as the 'TITLE/ALT" text (max. 50 characters). TITLE/ALT text appears when people hover their cursor over your image. You can also have the image click through to your own web site. In other words when someone clicks on your image in the Billion Dollar World they can be directed straight to your web site. You will also be added to our pixel list.
How long will my pixels remain online?
. Your pixels will remain on the Billion Dollar World in the same place for at least five years starting from the official launch of the web site (January 2009). So if you were to buy the minimum amount, a block of 100 pixels for $100, it works out at $20 a year which we think is exceptional value for money!
Advertising with pixels has been done before though, right?
. Yes it has, originally by a student named Alex Tew (The Million Dollar Homepage). However, the Billion Dollar World is a clever twist on this original concept. The Billion Dollar World not only offers a more interesting way of advertising your web site but more importantly, it gives you a location within a virtual global environment helping it to stand out from the rest of the crowd. During these tough and uncertain times it provides a cost effective and smart way to advertise your web site. Everyone is welcome to join the Billion Dollar World!

. There are two ways to pay for pixels in the Billion Dollar World. You can either pay using Pay Pal (amounts up to 1,000 pixels) or by Wire Transfer (amounts over 1,000 pixels). Before paying for your pixels please read all of the Terms and Conditions.
Why are you selling the pixels in dollars?
. The reason for selling the pixels in dollars is because US dollars are the closest thing to a universal internet currency.
Why are some countries not available yet?
. As you can imagine constructing a web site incorporating the 'whole world' takes time, and within the Billion Dollar World we are concentrating in making available countries that in our opinion hold 'more interest' than others. However, it is our aim to accommodate every country in the world within the Billion Dollar World, (and islands too) eventually! To receive updates join our mailing list ('Get Updates') and if there is any country in particular that you would like to see available in the Billion Dollar World, then why don't you let us know. We would be grateful for any feedback from you.
Can I put a count of the pixel sales on my site/blog?
. Of course you can! Just click on the pixel count image for the country you want and all the information you need to know is on the 'Pixel Count' page.
Can I see how many people are visiting my site?
. Yes. This is the fun part! If you go to www.statcounter.com you can download some free software for your web site. The free software enables you to see exactly how many people are logging on to your site, which country they are from and what pages they are looking at. It also gives information regarding what type of browsers visitors are using and loads of other useful stuff. Highly recommended!
Can I buy some pixel space even if I do not have a web site?
. Even if you do not have a web site you are still more than welcome to buy some pixel space. We can upload a 'Reserved' logo for you in the appropriate position and when your site/profile/blog is up and running, just send us the required information and we will make you part of our world as quickly as we can. If you prefer you can still submit your image and TITLE/ALT text but your link will not be in place until your site/profile/blog is online and you have sent us the required information.
I do not have a web site but I do have a MySpace/Bebo profile. Can I promote it in the Billion Dollar World?
.Yes, of course. Just make sure you submit the correct path for where your profile is located at. i.e.'http://www.myspace.com/yourprofilename' and become part of our world!
